Jacksonville, Fla.-based McCall Service‘s Chairman Emeritus, J. Bryan Cooksey Jr., was honored as the 2020 American Values Dinner Honoree by the Boy Scouts of America North Florida Council.
This annual event, hosted by the Boy Scouts of America North Florida Council, recognizes the contributions of significant people to the organization.
The North Florida Council encompasses the 17 counties of northeast Florida: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Marion, Nassau, Putnam, St. John’s, Suwannee and Union.
Cooksey’s introduction to scouting started when he was asked to serve as Scout Master at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church of Arlington before assuming the role of River Bend District Chairman in 1984. The following year Cooksey received the highest honor that can be bestowed on a volunteer, the Silver Beaver Award, for his selfless service to the youth in his community.
In addition to Cooksey’s volunteer service for the Boy Scouts of America, he has served the local community in a variety of roles and organizations, including president of the Rotary Club, president of the 4H Foundation and chairman of the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair Association. This year, the American Values Dinner raised more than $260,000 in donations.
