Fox Pest Control employees participated in the Comic Relief US‘ virtual Red Nose Day on May 21, raising $1,100 to help end child poverty.

Employees of the Logan, Utah-based company spread awareness for the cause by using the Red Nose Day filter on social media. With each digital Red Nose selfie, $5 was donated to Comic Relief US and the proceeds will be distributed to charities across the United States.

“In the U.S. before COVID-19, about 1 in 6 children lived in poverty and more than 12 million children didn’t have reliable access to sufficient food,” stated Andrea Holyoak, special projects manager at Fox Pest Control. “Now with the effects of the virus, there could be thousands more. We wanted to help those families in need, especially during this uncertain time.”

This is Fox Pest Control’s second year participating in Red Nose Day, and employees plan to continue the tradition in the future. Michael Stokes, COO at Fox Pest Control added, “We love seeing all of our employees work together to make an impact.”

Fox Pest Control has a reputation for giving back. In October, for example, the company instituted a company-wide Pick Up Trash project. More than 150 Fox Pest Control employees across 13 branches, spent a morning collecting trash and refuse in their local communities — from Shelton, Conn., to McAllen, Texas. Team members collected more than 120 bags of trash. Some also painted fences and trimmed overgrowth.

A month later, the company participated in a local Make-A-Wish program. It granted the wishes of two Utah-area girls with debilitating illnesses — Lennon, 5, and Eliza, 4 — to go to Disney World and meet the princesses. The year before, Fox Pest Control sponsored a boy who wanted to be a DJ and supplied him with DJ equipment. The company says it plans to continue granting wishes each year.

Most recently, Fox Pest Control worked with customers throughout April to collect non-perishable food items for those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Technicians collected items from customer doorsteps during their scheduled treatment. The items were disinfected, stored and delivered to the local organizations.

Founded in 2012, Fox Pest Control offers residential and commercial pest control services, has served more than 50,000 customers and has 18 branch locations nationwide.
